Today we hung out around the base and helped to make dinner (Chicken Burritos and Apple crumble.) Tonight we are going to serve lasagna, and potato salad to some people that are homeless in the city.

Moving in Melbourne
Yesterday we went into the city of Melbourne. We went on a free trolley ride around the city and walked around a bunch. We have been drinking some extra tasty coffee. Melbourne is known for their cuppa. Here is what we saw:

The Great Footy Game and Ocean Road
We sat in the 5th row...

so we were close to the action.

Who says white man can't jump?

The Melbourne Cricket Grounds (the field where they play football.)
I decided to start with start with pictures and end with pictures. I am mixing it up a little bit. Something that I have been striving for since I have been here: For someone to think that I was a local, and it happened tonight. Someone asked Lindsey and I for directions as we were walking on the street. Granted, we could not help them but that is okay because my goal was met. Pictures of Our Great Ocean Road Drive.
The Twelve Apostles are in the background. They are kind of a big deal.

Gentle Reminders along the way to stay to the left as you are driving.

The rainbow that followed us for most of our journey.

A tad-bit tired and sleepy as we started our journey but none the less ready to go.

Getting along in Geelong
We have started our Great Ocean Road trip. It was a little touch and go for a little while last night because there was ash from a volcano in Chile that canceled our original flight. After many calls to the Jetstar line we got onto a flight at 7:15am instead. Once we got to the airport we found a car and our luggage and we were on our way. We got directions off of GoogleMaps and did our best to try to follow them. After a couple of wrong turns we made it to our first hostel. Tomorrow we are going to do some shopping in the town and drive to the next stop which is Apollo Bay. The weather is a little bit chillier then in Darwin. We will not be damsels in distress though, we will press though the cold. Here are some pictures of what we did in Darwin.

The beautiful waterfall.

When we were in Darwin we went to Litchfield with some girls that we met on the plane. This is the old school car that we rode in.

This is us being really excited for our trip.

More pictures from Litchfield.

Delightful Darwin
We made it to Darwin. So far we have seen the town and gone on a scavenger hunt. We also helped to prepare fruit platters for a wedding that our hosts went to today. Today we went to Litchfield National Park. It is about 2 hours from where we are staying. We swam in waterfalls and did some hiking. Tomorrow we are going to church and heading to the super market.

Sick in the Rumah Sakit
My stay in the Rumah Sakit or place of sickness. I ended up staying in the hospital for a week. I went into the hospital because I had bronchial pnuemonia. I left the hospital without my appendix. You might be wondering how you go into the hospital with a lung infection and then leave without your appendix. If you figure it out please let me know. I had been sick for about a month before this. When I went to the doctor on Thursday after seeing him on Monday he said that I should stay so that I could get stronger drugs through an IV. I said, "okay if I have too". Meanwhile my stomach had been hurting since Sunday. The nurses and doctors would press on it often and I would screech in pain. (Maybe screech is not the right word, yelp might be a better.) I drank some cherry flavored barium which makes your insides glow in the dark and then I got some x-rays done. After the doctors consulted the glow in the dark insiides they said that my appendix was infected and that it needed to come out. Here are some pictures of my stay. My IV made my hand swell up like a balloon, they took it out and put it in the other hand. I also ate some spaghetti that was in the shape of a heart. If you are wondering the hospital was sterile and had air conditioning. I also had my own room with a nice couch for friends to sit and visit with me. One of my favorite parts was the warm milk before bed each night. YUM
