Sick in the Rumah Sakit

My stay in the Rumah Sakit or place of sickness. I ended up staying in the hospital for a week. I went into the hospital because I had bronchial pnuemonia. I left the hospital without my appendix. You might be wondering how you go into the hospital with a lung infection and then leave without your appendix. If you figure it out please let me know. I had been sick for about a month before this. When I went to the doctor on Thursday after seeing him on Monday he said that I should stay so that I could get stronger drugs through an IV. I said, "okay if I have too". Meanwhile my stomach had been hurting since Sunday. The nurses and doctors would press on it often and I would screech in pain. (Maybe screech is not the right word, yelp might be a better.) I drank some cherry flavored barium which makes your insides glow in the dark and then I got some x-rays done. After the doctors consulted the glow in the dark insiides they said that my appendix was infected and that it needed to come out. Here are some pictures of my stay. My IV made my hand swell up like a balloon, they took it out and put it in the other hand. I also ate some spaghetti that was in the shape of a heart. If you are wondering the hospital was sterile and had air conditioning. I also had my own room with a nice couch for friends to sit and visit with me. One of my favorite parts was the warm milk before bed each night. YUM

The Past Month and Next 3 weeks

The past month has been filled with lots of different things. Planning my trip to Australia, welcoming back hot chocolate, a random illness that no one can cure, and a grandma and grandpa party. Papers to grade, field trips to go on, songs and dances to coordinate have also been part of the month. It has been busy, but good all at the same time. I have 7 more days of teaching with my students and then we are done. In 3 weeks I will have finished my first year of teaching in Indonesia. Our last day of school is the 10th of June. After that I have about a week of hanging out in Sentul and then off to Australia I go for a month.

Here is what we did...

We went to the market to buy food for the week.

We went to Tana Lot and saw the sunset in Bali with our new best friend Kutut who looked like he was 12 but was actually 20.

We rode to the waterfall in Sentul by motorbike. My mom was so brave.

We rode in an Angkat in Bogor.

We went on a Safari and held an orangutan.

We went snorkeling. I saw Dory, Nemo, Bryan, and a porcupine fish.

Legs

Tweety and Foxy have little sprouts for legs. I noticed the legs when I was saying good-bye to them for the weekend. I gave them a snow pea seed and a green bean seed for food. Hopefully that will make them grow up to be big and strong.

Tweety, Foxy, Elliet, Jennica, and Sequin Carla

These are the names of the newest members of our class. They are 4 tadpoles and 1 frog. We are going to see if the tadpoles will turn into frogs throughout the next 6-8 weeks of school. Our new unit is the Circle of Life and we are learning about how different living things are born, grow, reproduce, and die. I will keep you informed if Tweety, Foxy, Elliet, and Jennica turn into frogs. I will also let you know if Sequin Carla grows bigger as a frog.
