Coffee

Today I had coffee with a girl that is going over to Indonesia to be a teacher with the same school system that I am going too. It was really nice to meet someone else and talk about what to pack and what to wear, and how to be a first year teacher. She was really nice and I think that we will get along wonderfully. We are planning to travel a little bit together once we get there.

Graduation and the Summer

On May 15th I officially graduated from Trinity Christian College. It was a whirlwind of a day. My family and I started the day with graduation. We then had a wonderful lunch, after lunch we moved everything out of the apartment. Bryan my brother came and cleaned the carpets. We then drove home to Michigan. Adam my oldest brother drove my car, which was greatly appreciated because I was exhausted. Once we got home we moved everything into the house and went to bed. On Sunday, we had the whole extended family over so that they could see Adam before he left again for Florida.

Since graduation I have been cleaning out my room. Babysitting a little bit, and sitting by the pool a little bit. I have also been hanging out with my mom and kind of relaxing with the family before I leave. Last week I went to buy luggage with my grandma because she had a coupon. We dutchies love our coupons. I came back and proudly showed my mom my purchases and she said that I bought the Cadillac of all luggage. I returned it the next day. I am still in need of luggage.

I got my official teaching assignment for the next school year. I will be teaching all of the first grade subjects and then fifth grade English. I was fine with
1st grade, but the 5th grade English kind of threw me for a loop. It will all work out and everything is under control.

Today I think that I am going to help my mom with some yard work and possibly do a test batch of cupcakes. We will see how the day turns out.

Spring Break

This week I am going to start my spring break. My family and I are going to Gulf Shores to sit in the sun everyday. This will be a nice break because it is exactly in the middle of my 10 weeks student teaching. I will try to post pictures of the extravaganza once I take some.

I am still enjoying student teaching. Today we have a half of a day and then we have parent teacher conferences. Tomorrow we have conferences as well, for half of the day, and then spring break starts.

Did you graduate high school Miss. Leanne?

Yesterday my students and I were working on spelling. We usually say our spelling words out loud and do some sort of movement with the letters to the words. I was having a hard time spelling some of the 1st grade words. I was spelling seed with a 'c'. Later one of my girls said, "Miss Leanne did you graduate high school?" If anyone was wondering I have graduated from high school. I am also really close to graduating from college. Just because I was having a hard time with some of my spelling in 1st grade does not mean that I am not smart.

"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord

My dad gave me a to-do list and on the list was to update my blog. Here is an update on my life. I was offered a job at SPH- Sentul City in Indonesia teaching in 1st grade. I have decided to take the job with my parents blessing and I will be moving back in July to Indonesia for at least two years. I will be at a different campus then where I was student teaching, but it is under the same school system, if that makes sense. I am really excited for the oppurtunity to go and teach overseas, and it is a HUGE relief to know that I have a job. I will be sharing a 5 bedroom house with another girl who is fresh out of college who will be teaching 3rd grade at the school. I tried to find pictures of the school for you to look at but it was hard. Here is the schools website you can look on there and get a good picture. www.sph.edu

Jeremiah 29:11
"'For I know the plans I have you,' declares the Lord, 'plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.'"

Here are two pictures of the students that I student taught. They are precious.
